⸺ The people behind the clinic

Our team

A small, carefully assembled group of clinicians and practitioners united by a commitment to unhurried, whole-person care — and the belief that good psychiatry always begins with genuine listening.

⸺ How we came to be

A clinic built on a different philosophy…

The Holistic Psychiatry Clinic grew out of a shared frustration — and a shared conviction. Both of us had worked within NHS and private psychiatry for years, and had seen too many patients managed rather than understood; maintained on medication rather than supported toward independence.

We set out to build the kind of practice we wished existed: genuinely unhurried, whole-person, and focused on helping people need us less over time — not more.

“The best outcome for any patient is one where they no longer need a psychiatrist.”

⸺ Founders & Consultant Psychiatrists

The people who built this…

Every patient is seen by one of our consultant psychiatrists — never a trainee or locum.

Dr Rani Bora

MBBS · FRCPsych · PGCE
Deprescribing EFT Coaching Trauma-Informed Women’s Mental Health
Rani qualified as a doctor and trained in psychiatry through the NHS, reaching consultant level with wide experience across general adult, liaison, and community psychiatry. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists. Over her career, Rani developed a growing interest in approaches that went beyond conventional psychiatric frameworks — particularly in supporting people to reduce reliance on medication over time, and in using integrative tools including EFT, coaching, and somatic approaches alongside standard psychiatric care. She brings a warm, grounded clinical presence to her work, and is known by patients for her ability to hold complexity with both rigour and compassion.
“My goal is not to be needed indefinitely. My goal is to help people develop the clarity and resilience to flourish — with or without medication.”

Dr Suraj Gogoi

MBBS · MRCPsych · MBA
Integrative Deprescribing ADHD & Neurodiversity Second Opinions Spiritual Wellbeing
Suraj trained in medicine and psychiatry across NHS settings, gaining his MRCPsych and extensive experience in general adult and liaison psychiatry. He subsequently completed an MBA, developing a distinctive perspective on how healthcare can be designed to truly serve patients. His clinical approach is integrative and deeply person-centred: grounded in rigorous psychiatric assessment, but attentive to the whole person — including spiritual and existential dimensions that conventional psychiatry often overlooks. Suraj is known for his calm, unhurried style and his ability to help patients make sense of their psychiatric histories — often for the first time.
“I want every patient to leave a consultation with more clarity than they arrived with — about themselves, their history, and the choices available to them.”

⸺ The wider team

The people who make it all work

Our team is small by design. Every person here shares our values and was chosen carefully.

Our clinical philosophy

We practise what we call Precision Holistic Psychiatry — combining the rigour of evidence-based medicine with a whole-person understanding of mental health. Every member of our team, clinical or otherwise, understands and upholds these principles.

What we always do

What we never do

⸺ Why patients choose us

What makes this clinic different

01
Genuine specialism in deprescribing
Very few UK private psychiatrists have developed a structured, evidence-informed methodology for medication reduction. This is central to our practice — not an afterthought.
02
Consultant care, always
You will never be seen by a trainee without being told and consenting. Our small team means the same clinician who assesses you manages your care throughout.
03
Integrative, not just biological
We draw on psychological, relational, somatic and spiritual frameworks alongside standard psychiatric practice — because mental health is more than brain chemistry.
⸺ Work with us

Interested in joining our team?

We occasionally welcome applications from clinicians and practitioners who share our values — particularly those with experience in integrative approaches, trauma-informed care, or medication deprescribing. We are also open to conversations with psychologists, therapists, and non-clinical professionals who believe in what we are building here.

Please introduce yourself and describe your approach. There is no formal application process — we prefer a conversation first.

Meet us in a consultation
