Second Opinions
& Diagnostic Clarity
For people who feel uncertain about their diagnosis, their long-term treatment plan, or the medication they have been on for years. An independent psychiatric perspective from a consultant who will take the time to truly understand your situation.
A fresh pair of clinical eyes
Many people reach a point in their psychiatric care where something doesn’t quite add up. Perhaps the diagnosis never quite resonated. Perhaps the treatment has been unchanged for years. Perhaps a new clinician has suggested a very different picture.
A second opinion is not about rejecting your current care. It is about seeking independent clarity — from a consultant with no stake in your existing treatment plan, who will review your full history with fresh eyes and give you an honest, well-reasoned clinical perspective.
You do not need to be planning to change anything. Many patients simply want to understand their situation more fully before making any decisions.
- Full independent review of your diagnosis and full psychiatric history
- Review of all previous psychiatric letters, reports, and clinical notes
- Clear written clinical report provided after the consultation
- Honest assessment of whether current treatment remains appropriate
- Recommendations for next steps — but no obligation to change anything
How we work with you
Every patient receives a personalised, consultant-led plan. The following outlines our typical approach — your actual pathway will be shaped around your specific situation.
01
A comprehensive, unhurried review of your full psychiatric history, all previous clinical correspondence you can provide, your current diagnosis and treatment, and what specifically you are seeking clarity on. 60–75 minutes.
02
Following your consultation, we produce a written clinical report setting out our independent assessment — including our view on diagnosis, current treatment appropriateness, and recommendations for next steps. Typically provided within 5 working days.
03
A follow-up appointment to discuss the report, answer questions, and explore next steps if you wish to take any action. Many patients find this the most valuable part of the process.
This service may be right for you if…
- You have been given a diagnosis that has never felt quite right to you
- Your treatment has been unchanged for several years without review
- You are considering a major clinical decision and want independent guidance
- A new clinician has suggested a significantly different picture from your existing diagnosis
- You simply want to understand your psychiatric history more clearly
